A little bit about me ...

When I was 9 years old my parents took my younger brother, Greg (7 at the time), and I out for a fancy breakfast. As we sat in one of those wooden high-back booths, my Mom looked at us and said, " What do you think about having another brother or sister?" Quite honestly, my response at the time was, "Are we adopting a baby?" Her look of surprise told me what I needed to know. "We" were having a baby. You have to remember, for years my parents told us in no uncertain terms that there were no more brothers or sisters coming into the house. Sometimes life just has other plans. Those plans led to the birth of a baby boy about 7 months after that fateful breakfast.

My life has not been the same since. He really was just an ordinary baby boy ... but aren't all babies extraordinary in the ordinariness? There is profound beauty in the plain and simple. His birth taught me patience and unconditional love and allowed me to see the eyes of the world through a young child while at a tender age myself. His birth lit a fire in me to work with children.

From babysitting to summers and holidays at BabyGap, I always found myself drawn to jobs that had children involved. After graduating from CSU and marrying my love, Brian, I became an aide in a kindergarten classroom, worked for Newspapers in Education, and in the education department at the Denver Zoo ... sometimes even scooping poop. I earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education and taught for two years before embarking on the most important job of all, Mom.

So, that'd been my full-time J-O-B until last June when my family gave me the last little push to explore photography as a profession. It has been a whirlwind ever since. I have the best job in the world. I get to play with kids and babies and families all day long and capture those moments for a lifetime (and I don't even have to grade papers).

So sit back and enjoy with me the moments and memories already captured and dream about all the fabulous ones to come!

{ bay cannot come out to play today }

The crud finally hit our home this winter. Unfortunately, it seems to have hit our youngest, Baylor, the hardest. As any parent can attest, it is no fun to see your child sick … and even scarier when it spirals out of control quickly. The other night we heard little footsteps coming down the hallway...

Surrounded by angels … I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with 8 children from Haiti and their new families. And I was surrounded by angels. These families and children are beautiful. I don’t get to work with seniors (of the high school variety) very often, so it was a treat when I met up downtown to hang with David for a few hours for a senior shoot. Not anything like chasing a two-year-old! David was game and we took lots of fun shots. He is a...

Today is my son’s 7th birthday. As I hear so often from friends, family and clients … the time flies so fast. There are many times I forget just what he was like as a baby. Just one of the many reasons why I am instituting yearly birthday photos of my own children. Decker and...

One of the traditions that has developed in our family is that I take each of our kids to Seattle in April to see the tulips when they are four. It is our Four-Year-Old Trip. Decker went a couple years back and it was Ridley’s turn this year. We stayed with my brother, his wife...
