Look out world, when Brooks starts running, he is going to have cat tails to pull and dog ears to rub. But for right now, he’s just lucky to have so many creatures in his home who love him. I got really lucky for this session because mom had a few hand knit blankets that I used, which make the images even more special. I love the colors in the images and can’t wait to share more with mom and dad!

I just love this family.Adding a third child to a family can sometimes be crazy and hectic. At least it was at my house. I have nightmares that I’ll walk out of the house without my clothes on … I do make it out sometimes with yesterday’s make-up all over my face and my hair untouched by a brush. This family is just oozing with patience and love for these sweet girls. It was such a treat to spend time with them a little while back. I think it was lucky the clouds moved in and started to rain on our parade, because I could have kept on, and the girls were ready to be done! I have a special fondness for this sweet baby (I got to rock her to sleep during a Kindie meeting at our elementary school .. we bonded):

The end of the school year has sailed by … reminding me just how long it has been since I’ve blogged any sessions. The littlest one is down for a nap with her dad and the other two are off reading somewhere in the house … leaving me a few moments of peace to show you what I’ve been up to lately!

This is a lovely family I met at my kids’ school. I knew right away that they were going to have stunning images … all with big gorgeous eyes and all. While it was a bit windy and cold, everyone stuck it out – even Grandma and Grandpa. Without further ado …

The crud finally hit our home this winter. Unfortunately, it seems to have hit our youngest, Baylor, the hardest. As any parent can attest, it is no fun to see your child sick … and even scarier when it spirals out of control quickly. The other night we heard little footsteps coming down the hallway (proceeded by some grumbling and whining). Baylor stumbled into our room (we had just turned out our lights) and crawled into bed. While she seemed a little out of sorts and uncomfortable, she was nice and cool. About an hour later (still awake) not so much. And TWO hours later our sweet little girl felt like she was on fire. The nearest we could tell at that point (thermometers and two-year-olds don’t get along together well) she had a temperature of over 104. In only two hours. Out came the Motrin and a warm bath (at about 4 a.m.). She cooled right down and fell asleep. The next morning she was still sleeping hard, so I decided to take advantage of her stillness and snap a few pics (because she is almost never still).

And the best news is she’s on the mend.

They were excited to have me come back Not sure how I got so lucky, but I had three newborns in one week and ALL of them were quick to fall and stay asleep. Finley was no exception! Surrounded by angels … I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with 8 children from Haiti and their new families. And I was surrounded by angels. These families and children are beautiful. I couldn’t help but feel a great sense of hope as I witnessed the wonderful relationships between parents are their newly adopted children, between siblings, and even between these families. There is hope that these children will heal, that other children from Haiti who are adopted into loving families will also heal. And I have hope that through measures great and small, we will come together and help as many Haitian children as possible. It gave me a sense that it just isn’t enough to sit on my couch, in my warm house, and wish horrible events and circumstances would not occur. It is with each action, great or small, that we make a difference. If you are inspired by these images … as I was … please take a moment to visit Lenses of Love. This is just one organization helping the children of Haiti. Photographers across the country are donating their session fees back to Kentucky Adoption Services, an organization on the ground in Haiti with a strong background in helping these children.

I feel so lucky every time I get to hold and snuggle a newborn. This little girl was the first of three newborns I had the opportunity to photograph all in one week. Let me just tell you how lucky I was … Lyla slept and ate a little and snuggled right in. I got to do lots of neat poses and even get some cute shots of her with Mom and Dad. See for yourself!
